About Maggie Doyle
Maggie Doyle is a Vancouver-born writer raised in a competitive storytelling family of thirteen, where she first learned how to keep an audience engaged. Maggie worked in theatre in Canada and the US and went on to develop award-winning immersive digital stories for companies across Canada. She was recognised for her innovative story project about public transit with a national award. She was also nominated for a Webby for her work as the first digital storyteller for a university in Canada. Through her work as a storyteller for the University of British Columbia, Maggie produced a number of short films featuring some of the world’s leading researchers including Good Soil Good Humans: Agent of Change, a short film about the UBC Farm.
A passionate supporter of regional theatre, Maggie has written four plays, including Winter Variations, which featured 31 poems and her two-hander, The Real Estate Agent, was produced at the Brave New Play Rites festival in 2019. Adept at bringing stories to life on both stage and in film, she chose to focus on screenwriting during her MFA in creative writing and fell in love with the craft. She has since written two drama features—one about brothers and the other about sisters—as well as a TV pilot and is currently at work on her first comedy.
Maggie lives near the beach outside of Vancouver, Canada and is a founding member of the Fraser Valley Writing Group.
